Cardio is a paramount component of any quality Parkinson’s training program. Research from Stony Brook University states that elevating the heart rate (doing cardio at the intensity of walking as fast as possible for 20+ minutes) is enough to cause the brain to produce Brain Derived Neurotrophic Factor (BDNF). Also known as “Miracle Grow For the Brain,” BDNF helps to slow the progression of dying brain cells and give birth to new brain cells.
